Meet Amita
She brings over 25 years of tireless dedication as an advocate for education with expertise in healthcare, business solutions and community engagements. Currently, Amita Gupta is the President of the Mills Park Middle School (MPMS) PTSA, leading a team of 40 Board Officers, Chairs, and Committee members, serving over 1600 Wake County students, families, teachers, and staff. As a mother of two children in Wake County schools, she understands first-hand the opportunities and challenges facing the district. Amita has been a passionate advocate for strong public education, twice elected as MPMS PTSA President in 2025 and 2026, a Board Member for North Carolina Odyssey of the Mind Eastern Region (2024-Present), and launching STEAM-based training locally for K-5 students to empower our children and brining employment for our teachers.
Acting on her strong belief in the power of public education to change lives, Amita served as a MPMS Odyssey of the Mind Coach, a Grade Chair, and on the Board Advisory Council (2024-Present). To combat COVID’s harmful effects on learning, Amita collaborated with national & global leaders, bringing 17 free experiential virtual life skills educational training to our community (2020). Amita was elected VP of Programs for Hortons Creek Elementary (HCE) PTA (2019) and appointed to the HCE School Improvement Team (2018). During her PTA role she launched Odyssey of the Mind, and 9 other programs to increase student wellness, access to nutrition, and family engagement.
She is dedicated member of her local community in Cary, where she lives with her husband and two children. Amita also serves on several other boards that includes her local HOA Board, Amberly Women’s Club, and South Asian Society for Amberly.
